Ferret has previously written about the decline in condition of our facilities since the “Independents” took control of Hemsworth Town Council in May 2019.
This really has come as no surprise to anyone who knew anything about Jim Kenyon and his disastrous business and scheming way of life.
This has been extensively reported to the community by Ferret.
Kenyon, a former bankrupt, has destroyed many people’s lives, over many years by causing damage to many individuals, businesses and communities.
He even gained election for his “cabal” based on very damaging lies about the previous Labour led Town Council and Councillors.
Lies, even though proven to be lies by his own appointed investigators, he has refused to apologise for.
What a man, if “man” is the correct word to use.
We’ve already heard of the lack of proper budget provisions, misuse of funds and forward planning by this council but there is also another major cause, Kenyon himself.
As we know, this council purchased his prized digger before authorisation and with no budget or business planning in place and off he went.
He was pleased, apparently at the price the council paid and to get it off his driveway, as were his neighbours, where it had been parked for quite a while.
He couldn’t wait to get into the cab, although for some reason he now denies ever driving this vehicle, something perhaps to do with the Department for Work and Pensions.
He caused havoc and damage wherever he went with it, from the Sports Grounds to the Waterpark.
When questioned when the work on the sites would be finished, he confidently stated it was!
Yet there were gaping stretches devoid of turf and mounds of earth left on the sites, some even adjacent to neighbouring homes.
The Town Council were eventually ordered to undertake remedial work by Wakefield Planning but to this day the some work still requires doing to return them to an acceptable standard.
Even worse contaminated rubbish from the allotment sites was buried in the Waterpark.
When this was challenged, a cover up operation was put in place by engaging a firm to do an inspection but they were only allowed to test “undisturbed” ground and in areas where no tipping had occurred.
Ferret believes it would have been easier and safer to use the money this coverup cost, to remove the rubbish.
Rubbish and waste that should not have been put there in the first place but that is another issue that remains unresolved and should be properly investigated.
To this day, 3 years later, the scars remain and some of the damage caused by Kenyon and his digger remain and are a testimony to the incompetence of Kenyon and his cabal Independents who allowed him to carry on in an uncontrolled, unsafe and detrimental manner...
