After four long years, we are finally rid of the ‘cabal’ led Independent Hemsworth Town Council.

In the Extraordinary Meeting held last night, Ferret was proved correct for one final time.

Jean Eccles, Jim Kenyon, Linda Pringle, Gordon Eccles, Graham Hirst and Stanley Wilson had conspired to try and push through a sale of the former allotment site at Fitzwilliam.

So, what scuppered them?

The fact that two of the ‘cabal’ failed to attend the meeting.

and

The hard work and diligence of a good number of people within our community, including current and future Councillors who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to stop them.

Ferret would like to THANK YOU ALL.

Jean Eccles decided to make a speech about her time as Chair, as they say Jeanie Jean “self-praise is no praise”.

Ferret usually wouldn’t bother giving any member of the ‘cabal’ opportunity to spread their vitriol, but as your favourite furry creature is feeling in a good mood: For one final time Jean, the stage is yours!

How could any of us ever forget all the fantastic achievements of the cabal, shared by the mystic one including:

  • Praising Jim Kenyon for his three years of leadership, with record legal fees and his ill fated Venga Boys concert 😊
  • Praising herself, but didn’t mention her driving the illegal Christmas float 😊
  • Praising the Independents for increasing staff wages (when they didn’t), but seemingly forgetting they lowered them in the first place 😊
  • Praising the Independents for the loss making Lakeside Café Bar, complete with it’s prison exercise yard 😊
  • Praising the Independents for not increasing the Precept. What’s that? It did increase 😊
  • Praising the Independents for all the ‘charities’ they have helped. Well they do say charity begins at home, just ask Shane 😊
  • Praising the Independents for the amount of money in the bank. Jean has either used Jimmy’s calculator here or she was referring to her own bank statement 😊

And finally, Jean also confirmed that the so called “Independents” were never Independent at all!

Well no shit Sherlock…

  1. Good riddance to a load of bad rubbish. Now with a new honest hard working council in place we can hopefully move forward to a bright future for this community and our facilities. I hope all of our community get behind the new council and support them fully. I would urge the new councillors to spend a bit of money on legal expenses and fully investigate the accounts left by the cabal. If wrongdoing or illegal activity is shown then use the full force of the law to prosecute all involved. We need to remove the stink from our streets.

  2. The stench will linger for a long time, all those involved including staff and councillors should be investigated and dealt with accordingly.
That’s the only way we will be able to move forward with dignity.
