Recently, former employees of Hemsworth Town Council have been coming forward and revealing the truth (whistleblowing) about events that have been causing public concern since the Independent (cabal) councillors took control of Hemsworth Town Council in May 2019.

From thefts, drinking, to asbestos waste tipping and Ferret dreads to think, what else?

Ferret believes that each and every one of them had genuine reasons for not doing so (whistleblowing) whilst still in the employment of Hemsworth Town Council.

The reasons may vary from employee to employee but they are all, no doubt, the result of intimidation and threats of varying kinds.

The loss of their job is the obvious one and Ferret understands one employee even lost his home through their despicable actions.

Working in an isolated environment left them open to verbal and physical intimation on a daily basis.

Their work life being made unbearable was the aim, and the message clear: toe the line or else.

They made up their own minds, that they were not going to work under those conditions and one by one they left.

Usually they were replaced by people who didn’t have the same skill sets.

Ferret is not blaming the new staff for that, but the people who recruited and subsequently managed them must take all the responsibility and for the deterioration in the condition of our facilities.

What is a whistleblower? (taken from https://www.gov.uk/)

You’re a whistleblower if you’re a worker and you report certain types of wrongdoing.
This will usually be something you’ve seen at work – though not always.

The wrongdoing you disclose must be in the public interest. This means it must affect others, for example the general public.

As a whistleblower you’re protected by law – you should not be treated unfairly or lose your job because you ‘blow the whistle’.

You can raise your concern at any time about an incident that happened in the past, is happening now, or you believe will happen in the near future.

A confidentiality clause or ‘gagging clause’ in a settlement agreement is not valid if you’re a whistleblower.

Complaints that count as whistleblowing

You’re protected by law if you report any of the following:

  • a criminal offence, for example fraud
  • someone’s health and safety is in danger
  • risk or actual damage to the environment
  • a miscarriage of justice
  • the company is breaking the law, for example does not have the right insurance
  • you believe someone is covering up wrongdoing

If any of the former or even present staff believe they have anything that should be in the public domain, please get in touch with a councillor you can trust to pass it on, or direct to Ferret if you wish.

If a special meeting is called by Hemsworth Town Council then you may get the chance to speak out loudly and clearly.

Ferret believes this community will welcome what you have to say with open arms…

  1. If these whistblowers think they are alone believe me your not , you have the public and certain councillors behind you 100% and if criminality has been committed the law, it will be hard for people to speak out but you must ,because there could be other events/happenings the parishioners and others need to know especially if it concerns the general publics health and yours

  2. The ex employees will be totally supported and hugely Thanked by our community for speaking up on what must have been an horrendous part of their working life. The HTC and the people responsible for endangering the health and well-being of our community must not go unpunished and we as a community will owe the people that speak out huge gratitude .
Time to all come together and support what is right ,time for all the good councillors to support and work together and time now for the people who must be held responsible to be removed and dismissed.
