Ferret thought that as we have a new and entitled Chair of Hemsworth Town Council and as Christmas is coming, it would be appropriate to give a brief résumé  of just a few of the highlights or lowlights of their time in public office in line with the Ferret tradition. These are anything but fully inclusive or exhaustive.

On the first day of Eccles’Mess

Readers will recall the lakeside café/bar conversion that was instructed to be undertaken “regardless of cost” by our Independent cabal councillors, the dubious payment of vat to some companies and petty cash being used for settling bills and purchases that were anything but petty.

Ferret believes this is why the auditor formerly employed by Councillors’ Eccles was engaged to make the books balance, when the previous auditor had failed.

Who could forget the clearing and fencing of the Eccles’ land at Kinsley for the free car parking at a cost to us of over £5000, that they then charged us to use from the first day.

But don’t mention it as Jean will set her legal team on you 🙂

Then there was the waterway at their Kinsley home that was cleared by the Waterpark staff, at no cost to them but definitely at a cost to us, that was their own legal responsibility to maintain.

This was the start of the Nolan Principles of standards in public office being swept aside…
