Readers of Ferret will no doubt recall back in 2019 that Independent Hemsworth Town Council cleared the land at the former Farmers Public House site, which belongs to Councillors Eccles at total cost to you the Precept Payers of at least £4461.

Their alleged reasoning behind this was to create an “overflow carpark” for Hemsworth Waterpark.
Since this time, in reality the land has remained fenced and the gates chained shut for the majority of the time.

On the agenda at the Hemsworth Town Council meeting on 16 June 2022:
09 FUNFAIR

To consider a (revised) request to have a funfair in Hemsworth Water Park from 17 – 21 August 2022.

Permission for this was REFUSED by Independent Hemsworth Town Council, led by none other than Jean Eccles.

The reason given as it would need to be sited on the car park adjacent to Wakefield Road at one of the busiest times of the year.

It seems as though Jean Eccles has conveniently forgotten about the overflow carpark which YOU paid for 100m further down the road.

Is this going to remain chained shut forever Jean….

  1. Maybe Councillors Eccles’ would like to return the £4K, seeing that there’s clearly no public benefit here.
