Ferret readers may recall a recent post that highlighted the Dickensian cuts that Mr Jim Kenyon’s led Independent Hemsworth Town Council, had made to their seasonal employees rates of pay.
Briefly, the previous Labour led Town Council paid the adult living wage and when they were working with the permanent staff doing the same work, they received the appropriate rate of pay.
It also raised the very meagre pittance in salary they were advertising for apprentice positions.
When the rates of pay were changed by Mr Jim Kenyon’s Independent Hemsworth Town Council is unclear, but as the Finance and Staffing committee is under Kenyon’s cabal control, as is the Council as a whole, then the responsibility lays fairly and squarely with them.
The good news, following an agended item by Councillor Middleton and a combined effort by the Councillors who are not aligned with Kenyon, Hemsworth Town Council has now agreed to pay the full adult pay scales rates of pay.
In other words, the proper pay for the work being done by everyone.
One dissenting voice in the discussion was none other than Jim Kenyon, who could be heard moaning and groaning.
Alan Draper, Clerk confirmed by his calculations it would cost around £20,000.
Ferret finds it strange that Jim Kenyon is suddenly against spending money?
After all, he has already “wasted” over £2 million on his legal battles and vanity projects.
Ferret is pleased as it does mean it’s less money available for him to provide work and goods for other Councillors or for their companies.
One of his friends may even have to buy their own TV license.
Shame on all those Councillors who implemented the reduction in pay in the first place.
Well done to all the Councillors who made this possible and have shown that they are true representatives of the people, with real values and principles and realise that the people of our community and their wellbeing come first, especially now with such difficult times looming.
Brilliant, thank you Ferret for exposing this scandalous behaviour and thanks to those councillors who righted this appallingly wrong. I like to see Kenyon and co live on what they were paying decent people just trying to earn an honest living. There’s a word though that may be a stranger to them , honest.
