Ferret has reported on numerous activities that have brought Independent Hemsworth Town Councillors Gordon and Jean Eccles, into the public eye for all the wrong reasons, since their election in 2019.

This has ranged from their business connections for providing goods and services to Hemsworth Town Council, their connection to the appointment of the new Town Council internal auditor and their benefiting from thousands of pounds of precept payer’s money being spent on their own private properties.

However, during the revealing of these issues, it has brought to light a very serious problem of public safety, the couple have been responsible for going back many years.

This problem was first highlighted some years ago when a reader, whilst walking in the Waterpark was confronted by an Alsatian dog running loose. The dog belonged to Gordon and Jean Eccles and was usually chained up in their garden.  On the day in question the dog was being “walked” by Gordon Eccles and he did not have it on a lead as required by Hemsworth Town Council regulations, regulations that are in place for the safety of all the Waterpark users.

The person was, quite understandably, frightened for their safety when confronted by the Eccles guard dog running loose and politely asked Gordon Eccles to put the dog on to its lead.

The response they got was not the one they expected. It was short, callous, rude and showed a total disrespect for the persons and other park user’s safety and the rules and regulations that are in force to keep us all free from dog attacks,

He simply said “Go do one”.

This unfortunately has not been an isolated incident, here are just a few reported comments:

“That dog bit me while Gordon was out walking it, he just carried on as though nothing had happened………. lovely chap”

“yeah it’s nipped a few people”

“The one (he had) before also got off and darted straight for my boy when he was little, luckily he was with his dad and Uncle who managed to pick him up out of the way quick enough”

“Yesterday I was walking through the Waterpark and the Alsatian at the large house at the back (Craven House) got off is chain and went for my dog. I managed to get in the way and fend it off from attacking my dog and only came out with a ripped pair of Joggers and a grazed knee. The yard is completely open and not gated at all. I walk the route regularly with my six-month-old (who thankfully wasn’t with me) and it could have been much more serious. I went back later in the day and the dog was chained up as if nothing had happened. Totally irresponsible.”

“That gate should be over their bleeding garden the number of times that dogs gotten off”

These reports are not exhaustive by any means but already these show a pattern, a pattern of the park being used for the Eccles’ personal exercise of their guard dogs over many years.

A complete disregard for the rules in place to protect the men, women and children who rightly use this park on a daily basis and a contempt and callous attitude towards the people that their animals are likely to and have actually harmed.

It’s almost as if the Eccles think they own the Waterpark, I wonder where Ferret got that idea from?

  1. As someone who last August experienced my own dog being attacked by another dog (not Eccles) I can only tell you of the trauma it causes. I’m nervous of walking my dog where other dogs are. I actively avoid where there is a possibility of dogs off lead.
Ever since I got my dog I’ve had problems with owners who have that same disregard to rules and others safety as eccles. As a result I have to give my dog a bad reputation to make other owners listen. Just s couple of week ago I asked a man if he could get his dog his reply “yes I can” but continued to walk and not put a lead on his dog. His dog approached my dog and started to follow us. Unfortunately there are plenty of owners with an eccles attitude. Last year we got off lightly with £170+ vet bill and continued anxiety.
Eccles should be leading by (good) example and follow their own rules. They can’t even act as responsible citizens. Corrupt and unlawful in all they do, then act wounded when called out, total disregard to others and the rules and laws most of us try to live by.
Perhaps Lord Eccles, his lady and the cabal could take his own advice and …
    “DO ONE”

  2. This sums the Eccles’ and co up, “go do one” that’s just what they think while they plunder and use our council for personal gain and to hell with us and especially anyone who tries to stop them. Horrible and disgusting people.

  3. Typical Eccles, doesn’t give a sh*t about anyone else who may get hurt by their actions. Big tough bullies, looks like time has caught up with Gordon and his fighting days are over but Jeanie’s mouth is still at full volume. Horrible nasty people the pair of them

  4. They and others who are swindling and treating the community with contempt need to DO ONE!
