There has been much talk in our Township about Mr Jim Kenyon – Chair, Independent Hemsworth Town Council and his remaining “top priority” of the Vengaboys Concert.

Councillor Kenyon has been asked on a number of occasions why Parishioners were not asked if they wanted upwards of £100,000 of their money to be spent on Councillor Kenyon’s “vanity project”, and has also been asked on a number of occasions to just cancel it.

A poll was set up on a local Facebook group in October 2021, asking the question:

Do you want the Vengaboys concert planned for Hemsworth Waterpark to go ahead in 2022?

The results were staggering:

88% – No

12% – Yes

At least Mr Stratford still fully supports it Mr Kenyon!

Ferret can confirm that Mr Alan Draper, Clerk – Independent Hemsworth Town Council has stated that to cancel the event would cost around £10,000, which Ferret believes would be money well spent.

If Mr Kenyon and some of his fellow Independent Councillors wish to continue with Vengaboys concert:

Are they prepared to put their own money up front to ensure and guarantee our Community is free from financial losses?

Ferret believes the only viable option is to cancel this Concert and believes our Town Councillors should table a motion to ensure this happens as soon as possible…

Once this has been accomplished, Ferret would hope that Independent Hemsworth Town Council do celebrate the Queens Jubilee with a number of events more befitting to our monarch and involving as many people in our Township as possible.

  1. What a good idea Ferret, people who want this event to take place let them put their money where their mouths are, and let’s not forget to include Womersley. Why should he think he’s in in the clear, he was and is part of this ridiculous mess that is seeing our residents being excluded from a public amenity they own on a very special public holiday.
