Some of my readers will be aware of my previous post regarding the simple question which a member of the community asked Mr Draper – Clerk Independent Hemsworth Town Council regarding the gate at Hemsworth Water Park.

For those that don’t, this is the post in question:

https://hemsworthferret.co.uk/2021/11/12/a-simple-request-to-the-clerk-mr-alan-draper/?

Now the member of the public that submitted the question to Mr Draper is disabled. By his own admission following brain aneurysms he finds it difficult to write and sometimes finds writing in capital letters easier for him to follow.

Mr Draper IS aware of these difficulties and others that this person faces. Mr Draper has offered in the past to help this member to meetings from the car park as Mr Draper has a relative who is also disabled and requires help.

Now taking all the above into account, it took Mr Draper a further seven days to finally reply:

Dear Mr ,

In answer to your query regarding the gate purchased last year. The cost was £387.54 (VAT inc.) and it was erected in October (2020) by the council’s grounds maintenance staff. It was needed to restrict vehicular access after dark and thus prevent nefarious activities.

Kind regards,

Alan.

So as only one gate was purchased, why did Mr Draper feel the need to give this member of the parish the run around?

Ferret can only assume Mr Draper didn’t want to answer the question and hoped it would go away…

  1. indeed as he kept saying clarify which one i changed my question to a f.o.i. for all the gates as he pointed out which one i assumed there was more than 1 i then sent a reply saying why only providing costin gs for 1 gate he said mr conway we have only purchased 1 gate in the last 7 years really so what did he want clarifying btw as a side note i got lambasted by councilor jean eccles for asking the question re the gate a 20 to 30 min rant when i tried to ask an unrelated question to someone else gawd only knows why she went off on one i wasn’t even talking to her or her stupid gate guilty conscience me thinks oh well that isn’t over either im more determined dogged nand clued up than clueless lol

  2. bodger badger was at meeting i see kev ,,,again private information reguarding your meeting being shared by independant counil ..they wouldnt record meeting or take notes or answer your questions so there was nothing on record ..badger must have took notes to remember what got said lol…shooting the independants in the foot again …

  3. yes it rankles that wonder if i will be allowed to ask questions regarding fridays meeting this thursday

  4. Anyone found the payment for this gate – because I can’t find it in the accounts

  5. I can find a payment in Aug/Sept 2020 for “fence.bolts posts” made to Earnshaw & Bros Ltd for £387.54 and charged to the Lakeside Cafe cost centre (maybe should have been the Water Park cost centre?).
It must have been included in a BACS payments run.
So it looks as though this transaction is legitimate.
Not sure from my records whether this figure was including or excluding VAT.

  6. Has anybody found a payment for the asbestos report from “smart asbestos removal nottingham”. This was regarding the suspected waste that was thought to have been buried in the woodland area. The report was very sketchy indeed and was made around June this year. Surely there should be a record of this in the accounts…but I cant find it ?
