Mr Jim Kenyon (Chair of Independent Hemsworth Town Council) promised alongside his Independent Candidates in their manifestos back in 2019:

“When elected we will reduce your precept by over £200,000”

The Precept in 2019 under Labour: £730,000
The Precept in 2020 under Independents: £749,386

Will we ever get a written response to our questions submitted to Independent Hemsworth Town Council and Mr Kenyon from the meeting held on 12 October 2021?

  1. Does anyone know what it is this year? Has it gone up again?

  2. Hi Sheila the rate of precept per household has stayed the same but because there are more houses that have been built in the township, the total precept raised has gone up £19000.
So because Cllr Kenyon’s council didn’t keep its election pledge to reduce the precept by £200000 they are actually £219000 of our money better off.
