So, who just is Mr James (Jim) Kenyon, an Independent Councillor (and current Chair) of Independent Hemsworth Town Council?
• Mr Kenyon gained his seat on Hemsworth Town Council in 2019, as an Independent Candidate. The electorate were not given the opportunity to decide if they wanted Mr Kenyon to represent them, as there were only three candidates for the three available seats.
This is not the first time Mr Kenyon has stood for election:
• Mr Kenyon previously stood for election as a member of the UK Independence Party (UKIP) in 2015 and was unsuccessful.
• Mr Kenyon stood as an Independent candidate in 2011 and was elected to Hemsworth Town Council. His term of office being from 2011 to 2015.
Mr Kenyon has made a number of claims about himself; verbally, in printed format and on social media including:
• He is a former teacher at Barnsley College
• He is a qualified builder
• He is a former College lecturer
• He is a former Publican
• He is a former member of the Armed Forces

Ferret does concede that Mr Kenyon has been the landlord of a number of Public Houses in the area – All of which closed under his stewardship and no longer exist, this may be a coincidence of course.
