An article was published yesterday in Public Finance on Gazprom, extracts below:

At least 12 UK public bodies – including eight local authorities – have major active energy supply contracts with Russian energy company Gazprom as the sole supplier, PF research has revealed.

Jeremy Hunt, former health secretary and chair of Health and Social Care Committee said yesterday that trusts should review any contracts with the energy giant.

He tweeted: “It is clearly unsustainable for a humanitarian organisation like the NHS to have any commercial links whatsoever with Putin’s murderous regime.

“The small minority of trusts who retain links with Gazprom need to rethink this as a matter of urgency.”

Ferret can reveal that Independent Hemsworth Town Council has made payments to Gazprom of around £5,000 to the end of December 2021 and so it looks as though there’s at least one contract in place.

Ferret would hope that Independent Hemsworth Town Council would now as a matter of urgency review any contracts they may hold with this supplier…
