Independent Hemsworth Town Council: There’s nothing like planning ahead…

At the recent Hemsworth Town Council Meeting held on the 14 July 2022, the following item was on the agenda:

20 LAKESIDE CAFÉ BAR – FRIDGES AND FREEZERS
To consider new fridges and freezers for the café bar.

Ferret was puzzled by this for a number of reasons including but not limited to:

• The lakeside was extensively subjected to a very expensive conversion and refurbishment only a short while ago
• The fridges and freezers seemed to be needing very regular repair and services ever since
• It is only a matter of weeks since the budgets were drawn up and approved by the Town Council and yet there was no provision made for the replacement of the fridges and freezers.

Even more disturbing to Ferret, is the people who are the most vociferous about the need and urgency of this need, are two of the key members of the Independents Cabal namely multi-millionaire Chair of the Council – Jean Eccles and former Chair –  Jim Kenyon, who we all know have wasted and misspent so much of our money since their election to office.

So with no money budgeted, how is this going to be financed?

Well from reserves, according to Jean Eccles, again, of course.

Those same reserves that have been plundered regularly for the last 3 years, but not to worry they can use some of the £182,000 that they received from the sale of the Sports Complex, exclaimed Jean.

Sounds okay, but hold on a minute thought Ferret, hasn’t that money and much more, already been spent on legal fees on their ill-fated attempt to rescind the sale of the Sports Complex?

Then again,  we are getting used to these financial geniuses spending the same money twice and in Jim Kenyon’s case 3 times.

Money that could have and should have been spent on the upkeep and maintenance of all the facilities that are now showing serious signs of neglect.
