A Question was asked at last week’s Hemsworth Council’s meeting, why a Hemsworth Town Council vehicle was being driven around with an old “odd” door fitted.

It was obvious, that the vehicle must have been damaged in some way and it would usually have been strange that a local authority would not have had a proper repair undertaken.

But Hemsworth being “Independent Hemsworth Town Council” for the last 3 years nothing really surprises Ferret anymore.

The answer was however surprising, especially in the way it was given by the Town Clerk, Alan Draper. It was short, lacking in detail, sounded rehearsed and he never looked up while delivering it. Basically, the damage had occurred whilst working.

Now as this vehicle is leased, this reply does not really answer the question asked, Hemsworth Town Council, (this Community) will be charged for the damage by the hire firm at the end of the lease period for any damage that is still present and as the vehicle should be insured, why not simply have it fixed?

After all, accidents do happen, Ferret has no problem with that.

So why bodge and half do a repair job and drag this council’s and community’s reputation even lower by using a vehicle in such a condition?

Now these thoughts got Ferret thinking, bodged jobs, jobs left unfinished or finished to an appalling standard, who did that bring to Ferret’s mind?

Ferret has made some discreet enquiries and the reason for all the subterfuge became clear.

I’m sure readers will clearly remember the previous and now disgraced Hemsworth Town Council Chairman, Jim Kenyon and his well-deserved reputation for bodged jobs and jobs left in a disgraceful condition, not just over the last 3 years but throughout his life, well guess who was driving the vehicle?

That’s right, Jim Kenyon was driving the Town Council vehicle, uninsured and damaged it.

That’s why it’s been fixed with the wrong colour door from the scrap yard.

The Council dare not and cannot claim for the damage in the normal way through the insurance we all pay for!

More questions for Hemsworth Town Council:

  • Why was Kenyon allowed to drive the vehicle, especially when uninsured?
  • Why hasn’t he been made to pay for the damage he has caused and not us the precept payers?

One last thought, and it’s one that is being spoken more and more in relation to the cabal Independents:

How those lies are coming back to bite and bite hard.

Ferret is sure there are many more and more costly that will be revealed in the not too distant future..

  1. Is anything at all legal with this lot? Although this doesn’t surprise me one bit.
I walk a lot around Hemsworth and its amazing what you witness when doing so. Drunken, staggering experts falling into parked cars. Yes we all need to relax I know, but when it’s someone in so called “authority” it isn’t a good look.
Then there’s herbal aromas you can’t get away from especially outside a certain bungalow.
The biggest, saddest and most worrying thing is the examples this is being given to the younger generation, we know one generation is known from their recreational herbal habit and the shop lifting that pays for the it, I’ve witnessed the shoplifting myself.
The worse thing is I’ve witnessed this “do as I want” attitude being passed down the generations.
Mr Kenyon sees nothing wrong in what he does privately or publicly.
I do hope the future generations see through his bluster.
