For as long as Ferret seems to remember, Councillor Jean Eccles and her husband Councillor Gordon Eccles, have been pushing for a lift installing in the very expensive, newly converted, underused, already outdated sixties style pub with now reduced opening hours, that is the Lakeside Café bar.

She has tried every trick in the book to try to convince the decent Councillors to succumb to her wishes from its placement, inside or out, even to disability.

Yet despite repeated instruction from the Council meetings, she has not produced any business plans or even proper costings based on:

  • Type of Lift
  • Location
  • Cost of installation
  • On-going running costs etc.

Ferret has to wonder how, off the top of her head she can produce an estimated cost for the lift of £15000?

It seems to be very reminiscent of the “Free Store”, which was Mr Jim Kenyon’s dream and now our nightmare.

It’s almost as if she has already got it stored somewhere and is just waiting for the word to have it delivered.

At her last attempt to gain approval for it, she threw in what she believed to be her trump card, disability.

On Checking, Jean Eccles has been a:

  • District Councillor
  • A Hemsworth Town Councillor from 2007-2011

and now an independent (cabal) Hemsworth Town Councillor for the last 3 years and in positions of authority and has never been a champion of disability, not even for children.

In Hemsworth Waterpark there are no disability rides or facilities such as a sensory garden, in fact they have erected fences that block access to pathways and that forces pedestrians, wheelchair users and families with young children and buggies to use the single track access road behind the Lakeside Café Bar to walk the “loop” of the lake.

In fact Ferret has now learned, the previous Labour led Town Council had plans drawn and budgeted for, for the existing toilet block to be extended for improved disability use and to be fully refurbished. These were scheduled for 2019.

The plans were scrapped by Jean Eccles and the cabal and the money wasted elsewhere.

Hypocrisy, you couldn’t make it up, but they certainly can…

  1. In one of the meeting someone asked Mr Kenyon about the lift, he said there had been one enquiry about it from his neighbour. One! Just one!
How many funerals do they have there? How many functions do they have? How many function enquiries do they have where people have where people have gone elsewhere because if no lift?
Before any lift is fitted there has to be a business plane done for this, there has to have been enquiries and cancellations if functions.

  2. It wouldn’t surprise me if it wasn’t inside the free store ready and waiting lol
