Ferret has seen the following posted on social media by Councillor Maxine Hird, this corrects a number of lies and half-truths which were stated in the “Public Meeting” from Mr Ian Womersley, Mr Jim Kenyon and others:

“A few facts about last night public meeting that people should know about in relation of the PLAN 2036.

In 2017 Wakefield called a meeting with all Wakefield’s District councillors to discuss the proposal of the 2036 plan that has been set out by the government.

At NO time during this meeting Was any specific land pointed out to be developed.

All green space within the Wakefield area had been pin pointed by Wakefield.

This included football pitches, parks etc.

This was protocol and was then going to be condensed down by Wakefield to suitable development land.

At this time no district councillors were aware of any development within our area.

In 2019 when Wakefield had decided on which land could be developed another meeting was called to the district councillors AND our Town Council.

Emails were sent so OUR town council could consult the parishioners and put objection where needed.

This included:

Lp21 East of Wakefield Road (Vale head park)

Lp742 Kirkby gate

Lp761 Burntwood Bank

Lp683 Ashfield Road

The TOWN Council received the Emails from Wakefield and asked to attend the meetings NO ONE turned up to that meeting.

The TOWN Council read part of the email and picked out one that they and only they were interested in LP 742 and made objections.

The other developments were either:

  • Over looked
  • They weren’t interested
  • Or it was because it wasn’t named as Saul’s

Draw your own conclusion

Emails were sent by the clerk to councillors with objections but only to the independent councillors our other serving councillors were left in the dark and were never included in this.

By the time the parishioners found out about these developments’ consultation was finished which left them with a no-win situation.

It wasn’t down to the last town councillors as stated last night because the last councillors did not have any clue this was going through

It is down to this Town Council focusing on ONE development and not being interested in its own parishioners.”

Ferret is disappointed, but not surprised that once again Independent Hemsworth Town Council tries to deflect the blame onto others for their lack of action…

Here are the links to parts of the meeting which were recorded last night:

  1. At the beginning of the second video Ian Womersley said ‘I’m going to be calling them liars because they are liars’ does anyone know who he was referring to?

  2. Yes, I believe Ian was referring to a Mr Ford (the WMDC Planning Officer), who attended a meeting with residents in 2021 and answered a specific question relating to LP21 access points. Apparently, Mr Ford stated that there would only be one access point from Wakefield Road. It sounds as though the planning department are now talking about a 2nd access point. This might be for emergency vehicles, I’m not sure – it was confusing. Hope this helps.

  3. Womersley calling someone a liar, Kettle calling the teapot springs to mind. Biggest liar around second only to Kenyon. I don’t know how he dare show his face, did he think people had forgotten about him already. Anyway can he answer those outstanding questions please.

  4. What gets me is they’ve been proven to be liars they know we know they have continually lied. Yet they still keep lying, they still keep thinking we believe the lies they tell to prove the lies. They stand there in the meetings acting hurt that we don’t believe them. I give up.

  5. Ferret, please can you take a look down your ferret hole for some good news, just for a change?! x
