One of Ferrets many followers pointed Ferret to the Indeed website which contains employee reviews for Hemsworth Town Council, here are some examples:

Poor management low team morale

Grounds Maintenance Operative (Former Employee) – Wakefield – 15 October 2021

Power mad management and unsafe working practices…… just the tip of the iceberg.

Expected to work most weekends at no increased rate of pay. Staff are treat and spoken to like rubbish and really isn’t a nice environment to work in, I would strongly advice against working for Hemsworth Town council.

Pros: None

Cons: Management are shocking

Very Poor management

Service provision (Former Employee) – Pontefract – 16 June 2021

Very poor management do what they want. won’t listen to you they know best and will argue with you about it if you question them health and safety is very poor

Pros: Home time

Cons: Everything about the place

Awful place stay well clear of it

Groundsman (Former Employee) – Pontefract, West Yorkshire – 16 June 2021

Stay well away. Horrible place to work… management treats you like something on the bottom of their shoes and of anything goes wrong they put the blame onto someone else. made to leave in the end as was causing me to have serious mental health issues. You really aren’t valued working there. It’s a typical council run by politicians who don’t care about anyone but themselves and will lie to make sure they get what they want.

Pros: None

Cons: Just a horrible place to be

Not a good environment

Catering Assistant (Current Employee) – united Kingdom – 2 April 2021

Nostalgic, not good atmosphere to work in too many chiefs not enough workers, so disheartening was forced to leave as given less hours for no reason nobody else in cafe lost any hours just me.

Ferret did happen to find one positive review:

It’s a fun workplace. All the employees get along and help each other out

Seasonal Staff (Former Employee) – Hemsworth, West Yorkshire – 18 November 2018

As my first job I loved working at the Hemsworth Waterpark, the working days were long hours but I enjoyed it. I learned how to handle money and handling working under pressure.

Pros: 30-minute lunch breaks

Cons: Long hours

Ferret has to wonder what changed from 2019 onwards…

5 thought on “Hemsworth Town Council Employee Reviews…”
  1. Employees have told me that the day to day running is by the Chair of the Council / Councillor- surely this can’t be right? He has no jurisdiction there ……..

  2. I used to know a lot of people who worked on HTC over many years, and generally they seemed happy, and did a good job. I doubt I’d know anybody now. If any current workers are experiencing non existent H&S and being told to carry out works you know are wrong, now is the time to say. Standards used to be good at one time, and a job on HTC was valued with many applicants for any posts which came up. I’d love to know how many people applied last time the Town clerk post was vacant, or was it as I suspect a shoe in?

  3. Just for information, if you feel your work place is unsafe for you to work in. You are entitled to put a section 44 in, if your employer does not, after being informed of your concerns, makes it safe. This can be working practises to unsafe buildings or even not putting enough measures in place regarding covid safety. This is H&S law and does not need you to be part of a union.

  4. Clear that there is a sickness running through HTC at present, and it’s not COVID.

  5. seems waterpark used to be ok in past but workmenviromeny changed under cabal and eccles mannor workplace took over p/s draper out of office again errm that mans out of office quite a while of late especially when emailing queeries
