Ferret is please to see that Hemsworth Town Council now has a page on their website titled “corrections” www.hemsworthcouncil.co.uk/corrections . This has been created at the request of Councillor Jean Eccles.

The page currently only has one entry on it, Ferret hopes that the Town Council will be issuing corrections to all the misleading and inaccurate statements posted by Ferret in due course 😊

Corrections

The purpose of this page is to issue corrections concerning inaccurate and/or misleading statements posted online about council business.

The first entry is from 18 October 2021:

18/10/21: – Christmas Day and Boxing Day – Lakeside Café Bar

The last time the café bar was open on both Christmas Day and Boxing Day was in 2019 with the takings respectively being £1,592 and £572.

Ferret is unsure why Hemsworth Town Council feels the need to post this information, however it does raise a number of questions:

  • Why are the figures from 2019 and not 2020?
  • How many lunches were sold on Christmas Day?
  • How many staff were employed on Christmas Day?
  • How many staff were employed on Boxing day?
  • What were the rates of pay for the staff on both days?
  • Was food available on Boxing Day?
  • What was the gross profit on Christmas Day?
  • What was the net profit on Christmas Day?
  • What was the gross profit on Boxing Day?
  • What was the net profit on Boxing Day?
  • What Business planning has taken place to ensure 2021 will be successful?

As Ferret is still waiting for answers to the questions submitted to the Town Council for the meeting held on 12 October 2021, I won’t hold my breath.

Ferret is also aware that the previous Town Council rewarded staff for their hard work throughout the year by closing over Christmas to allow them to spend quality time with their friends and families, shame the Independent Hemsworth Town Council don’t do the same…

8 Days and counting – Will we ever get a written response to our questions submitted to Independent Hemsworth Town Council and Mr Kenyon from the meeting held on 12 October 2021?

  1. I’m puzzled, what are they “correcting” with this statement, please Mr Town Clerk, publish the business planning / investigation etc that took place after the first years obvious disaster from the pub that Kenyon, Eccles’ , womersley etc. inflicted on us, that was used to come to the closure decisions

  2. How come you can find time to post a non correction but not to answer even one of the outstanding unanswered questions. You only need answer the one about Kenyon’s “quackifications” and then he can resign for lying to the electorate. Job done!

  3. The report will be in the same place as the rest of their business plans up in thin air

  4. If you deduct from that sum above the true cost such as electric gas cost of food premium rate wages for staff I very much doubt there would be much of a profit margin if any at all more than likely a substantial loss. Yes some eating pubs do open Christmas day and they reflect that in the prices they charge these are private businesses and you would expect them to do so it’s their bread and butter at the end of the day. Does a public owned premises really need to open on Christmas day? No it doesn’t and no it shouldn’t everyone likes to spend Christmas day with their families HTC should be no different unless that is that it’s purely being ran as a jolly for the great and the good because clearly there is no business sense in it. Many pubs and clubs now no longer open Christmas day because takings are low and it’s an opportunity to give the staff a break with their families and be ready for boxing day

  5. Weren’t we in lockdown Xmas 2020? That would explain why there aren’t figures?

  6. We were in lockdown yes, so the figures for 2020 should be zero, where I suspect the real figures for 2019 are minuses when all the costs are taken into account.

  7. The 2019 Christmas Day takings equate to 40 lunches at £40.00 per head.
Seems a bit on the low side to me.
    So no drinks sold?
Maybe “Takings on the day” actually means the amount of cash banked on the day, which wouldn’t include any advanced payments for the lunches.
Who knows? And why does this matter in the scheme of things?
What is being corrected by posting this information?
    I’m confused!

  8. not related to topic just need some help reguarding a letter i sent to to h town coucil reguarding kinsley …was ment to be sorted at meeting on 14th but passed to ian womersly as it was a wakifield town council thing …not heard anything so i message town clerk yesterday ,,got reply today Please accept my apologies for the delay in getting back to you.
Yes, Cllr Womersley has said he is more than happy to discuss the issues you raised with you. You can either call him directly on or if you prefer you can give me your contact number and I will forward it on to him…(.phone number was added ive deleted it for me to contact him personally)..my question if i ring him will my complaint not be seen by wakefield town council ..me ringing will it just be swept under carpet ..dont know what to do

  9. Hemsworth Town Council should not have sent your letter onto anyone else without your permission. I believe this in itself is a breach of GDPR and should be reported to the Information Commissioners Office https://ico.org.uk/. I would send your letter directly to the three ward 7 Councillor’s via email to ensure it doesn’t get swept under the carpet. Their contact details are: Sandra Pickin spickin@wakefield.gov.uk , Ian Womersley iwomersley@wakefield.gov.uk and Pauline Kitching pkitching@wakefield.gov.uk . Good luck.

  10. im confused because my letter states about kinsley and i thought that came under hemsworth town…and the spending to improve it ..been threw finaceses and nothing at all been spent at kinsley threw hemsworth town …and dubious as ive mentioned priortys over putting fish in lakes and cleaning when kenyon passed that to ian to sort threw funding out for (the ponds)
