At the Extraordinary Meeting last night, Mr Jim Kenyon was asked if he could provide an update in to the ongoing litigation against Saul Construction Limited.
Mr Kenyon was quick to answer by stating Legal Counsel had told Hemsworth Town Council it had a 60% chance of winning.
Someone in the room queried this as the figure differed from what Mr Kenyon had told them previously, Mr Kenyon then changed his answer to 55% chance of winning.
Mr Kenyon then turned to the Clerk – Mr Draper “Isn’t that right Alan?”
Mr Draper then informed the meeting that Legal Counsel had actually informed Hemsworth Town Council that “They had more chance of winning than losing”.
So, they have gone from 60% to 55% to potentially 51% chance of “winning” in the space of 5 minutes!
Ferret must remind readers that “winning” actually only relates to the first stage of the legal process. Even if Hemsworth Town Council do “win” at this stage the potential restitution costs run into millions of pounds.
Ferret isn’t a betting man, but it would probably be as sensible to put the millions of pounds of Community Assets and Legal Fees both already spent and with more to come, on the Roulette table and pick red or black…
I’ve a better idea ferret, let’s make it russian roulette with all barrels loaded and only one player, mega mouth himself, Kenyon.
“they’ve more chance of winning than losing” that’s the best laugh I’ve had today, well of course any counsel will tell you that why the bloody hell would be say any different he’d be doing himself out of a nice fat fee. For heaven’s sake are these people insane? Even if they were to win do they think the judge is going to say ok lads you’ve won the day and the little matter of all the expenses and work Saul has done it’s no problem he can kiss his arse and say goodbye to that. Oh and while we’re at it lads how much as this buggar Saul cost you in legal fees Bart 500000 come back here Saul tha can pay this anorl. If only dream on. Win lose or draw it’ll cost us thousands in fees alone and their madness continues a hairbrained plan to open up the place at a cost between six and eight million with no feasibility study done and the same business plan as that old pub down at the park God give us strength the lunatics are taking us all to hell in a handcart
