Ferret finds it absolutely astonishing the amount of YOUR money that Independent Hemsworth Town Council has spent since taking office in 2019.
Ferret has started to trawl through the accounts of Independent Hemsworth Town Council, to find out exactly where YOUR precept money is being spent.
So far, we are aware of the ongoing litigation with Saul Construction Limited, which could cost YOU £2.8 million and the Summer Festival, which could cost YOU £77,000.
Ferret has found a number of entries in the accounts relating to the land at the former Sports Complex on Kirkby Road in Hemsworth.
Mr Jim Kenyon (Chair of Independent Hemsworth Town Council) has already spent a considerably large amount of YOUR precept money on various forms of “remedial” work at the site.
In the contract Saul Construction Limited signed in April 2011 it states that:
“…it is exclusively responsible for carrying out any necessary remediation works at the Property”
Ferret can confirm that this clause came into effect immediately, once the contract was signed.
Therefore, Ferret would like to ask Mr Jim Kenyon two questions:
1. How much money has Independent Hemsworth Town Council spent in total on remedial works at the former Sports Complex site?
2. Why are you spending PRECEPT payer’s money on a site, which is not Hemsworth Town Council’s responsibility?
