On the Agenda of the Annual Council Meeting held on 12 May 2022:
33 Newstead allotments – possible legal action The town clerk to report on possible legal action that may be necessary in respect of the Newstead allotments site.
Although Ferret is used to Independent Hemsworth Town Council being involved in lots of litigation, it seemed unusual for this to be related to an allotment.
Having looked into this, Ferret can reveal it relates to a man who has been forced into living in his caravan on the Newstead allotments.
The man, who came to this Country seeking a better life, soon found himself working for Councillors Jean and Gordon Eccles.
Included in his position were an industrial unit and living accommodation.
Without going into too many details, due to the ongoing litigation, the Eccles’ became disgruntled with the Gentleman and had him evicted.
Left with little other choice, he sought solace in a caravan on the Newstead allotments.
Ferret would have, at the very least expected Independent Hemsworth Town Council to offer support to this Gentleman in his hour of need.
However, they voted in this meeting to send in the bailiffs and have him evicted from the site.
Ferret has to wonder if the new Chair at Independent Hemsworth Town Council is now using our money in pursuit of her own (and her husbands) personal vendetta…
For decency’s sake help the poor man not prosecute and persicute him. Not all the people are like the Eccles’ in this community.
