In May 2023, the local communities of Hemsworth, Kinsley and Fitzwilliam have the opportunity to vote for fifteen new councillors to form a Town Council for the next four years.

As the election fast approaches, Ferret is aware that local political parties and individuals are currently finalising nominations for the seats.

So far, Ferret understands that the Labour party will be contesting the majority of the sixteen seats.

Current Councillors Ian McGuiness (Independent) and Councillor Lyn Morton (Green) have also indicated they will seek re-election.

Ferret is pleased that the “cabal” will be unable to be elected ‘uncontested’ as happened back in 2019, when disgraced liar and bankrupt, Jim Kenyon was able to become Chair of Independent Hemsworth Town Council, without a single member of our communities voting for him.

When nominations are formally released, Ferret will create a profile for each individual candidate.

These will be open, transparent and factually correct.

Any links to the cabal, individuals or cabal companies will obviously be highlighted.

Please remember you must have valid ID to vote at the elections in May 2023.

You can request a postal vote, please ensure you do this prior to the deadline.

Finally, in order to rid this community of the “cabal” who have leeched and lied throughout the last four years, Ferret can only say:

VOTE THEM OUT…

  1. Love it, l wonder which flag at least one of them will stand under this time

  2. After 4 years of a disastrous, financial destroying HTC run by the Independents the community deserve so,so much better. We have lost almost everything our community cherished and seen almost everything destroyed by the HTC Independent councillors.
We have seen hundreds and hundreds of thousands of pounds completely wasted of our communities money, money that should have been used to bring our community together and prosper but instead only certain Independent councillors appear to have prospered whilst the community fell into decline.
We now need to come together as a community make our voices heard and make our VOTES count make the changes for all and not the few, hopefully decent, honest, trustworthy community candidates will stand for election and hopefully the next 4 years will see the community come alive again the parishioners can do this by VOTING very, very wisely.
Please can you post on FB Thankyou.

  3. So, as a potential candidate without a recognised political party, I am able to stand either as “An Independent” or some other made up description (such as “Lone Ranger”) and, as long as I submit all the necessary paperwork to the correct Wakefield Council office by the set deadline (in person),
I will go from being a potential candidate to an actual candidate and a potential Councillor.
Then, without much money or support, somehow I need to figure out a way to become popular (or at least recognised) by people in my area – during April.
Then all I need is for people to vote for me on the day!
And I put in all this time and effort just for the privilege of trying to put things right at Hemsworth Council.
If this were a job recruitment exercise I’d guess not many people would be interested.
Is it complete madness to want to do this?
That’s the question I just can’t answer honestly right now.

  4. Appears the other anonymous is attempting to put people off from standing in the up coming election, dirty trick campaign springs to mind 🤔.

  5. Come on now Anonymous, reading far too much into my honest ramblings!
I’m just saying that personally (that’s just me), it’s a commitment which should be taken seriously and which requires selflessness in terms of personal time and effort, for absolutely no reward other than putting things right.
In an ideal world, the position of Councillor should be enjoyable and (dare I say it) fun to be a part of a group of other community minded people. Under the right circumstances the position would be incredible.
But initially at least, it’ll be a hard slog with very little funding to do anything “progressive” with. It’ll just be putting everything back in order. “Not sexy” some would say.
    I’m only being honest.
Putting the fun back into being a Councillor will take time, but I’m hopeful that other people, like me, think it will be worth the effort as it desperately needs doing.

  6. That’s what it is ramblings ,becoming a Councillor isn’t for self gain or to say I’m a Councillor it’s about doing right for the community and making important decisions on behalf of parishioners I’m sure anyone getting into local politics doesn’t do it for FUN has you say . Your comments appear to trivulise the position of being a Councillor!.

  7. Being an ELECTED councillor by the parishioners should be a privilege and seen as a privilege and honour to serve your community. The main problems have occurred from non elected and unopposed ward seats and certain councillors have failed in their duty to serve the community and put the parishioners needs and wishes first. The ward boundaries have resulted in wards merging to 3 wards and not as previous 5 wards and 15 councillors required. It is every eligible parishioners duty to VOTE for the correct people to run our HTC who will serve with honesty, integrity transparency and involve the community in all decisions.
Votes are the only way to bring in the changes.
Please can you post on FB Thankyou.

  8. Apologies Anonymous – I bow to your superior grasp of expressing oneself.
I definitely wasn’t trying to trvialise the position – quite the opposite. Clearly I need to work on articulating my messages more precisely to avoid any confusion.
As for fun – I’ve found that most people tend to work better when they’re having fun, and produce better results. There should be no need to be constantly insulting other people just because you hold a different opinion. It is possible to work with a diverse range of opinions and still enjoy the process!
Sorry if you think that’s being trivial. I don’t.
And we are most likely wanting the same outcomes – so please stop criticising my posts.
Everyone is allowed their own thoughts and opinions in a democracy.

  9. Yes agree anonymous we both want the same outcome, councillors who put the community first and not there own agenda at the expense of parishioners.
