Ferret was a little surprised to see the following item listed in Mr Draper’s accounts for November 2022:

An entry for £500, this may not be a lot by this Council’s standards and that is true but that was not the main surprise.

It was made out to Matthew Wibberley, Who is Mathew Wibberly you may ask?

Well, Matthew Wibberley is the near neighbour of the Eccles’ no less.

The same Matthew Wibberley who bought those cut price diggers from Independent Hemsworth Town Council.

The diggers which now reside on the Kinsley industrial estate at the old scrap yard owned by Jean and Gordon Eccles.

The Same Matthew Wibberley who opened the new café in the unit owned by Jean and Gordon Eccles, co-incidentally just in time for bonfire night at the Waterpark.

The same café that he said Jean Eccles didn’t work in.

Oh yes she did!

Oh no she didn’t!

Ferret thinks we had best leave that for the next pantomime, sorry Hemsworth Town Council Meeting.

Anyway back to the story, it’s the same Matthew Wibberley that denied connections with the Eccles and issued direct threats to back it up.

It now transpires that Matthew Wibberley provided pallets for the bonfire at the Waterpark.

Oh how lovely! What a benevolent gesture, how kind of him.

Well yes or more possibly no, as we paid him £500 for the privilege!

Well at least it’s better than the pre 2019 way, when old clean and damaged timber was put aside ready for the big day throughout the year.

Just a minute, Oh no it isn’t ……………

Hemsworth Town Council: A New Year, same old Council…Oh yes it most definitely is.

  1. Does anything really surprise us any more the depth and corruption that seeps throughout the Independant run council. The total wastage of the communities money will be coming more to light and out of the covered up darkness as hopefully come May the people of our community will also have seen the light and got rid of the lot of them.We deserve so much better and with the good ,solid community councillors our community could get back to being a caring community with trustworthy councillors working for us and not themselves. Our money thousands and thousands being spent on vanity projects that aren’t for the community thousands and thousands being spent on food that is certainly not feeding the community so who is it feeding where is it going NOT our food banks that’s for sure and now £108,000 for a new heating system at the lakeside cafe again not to warm the community or could it be they are to be opening up as a WARM BANK no I don’t think so.They are self indulgent and the only way people of this community can put a STOP to it is to VOTE the lot out in May.

  2. Wonder why the payment was to the person personally and not his business, also was it a cash payment or cheque.
Paid after the event .. mmm so no checks could be done. Poof up in smoke all evidence gone just like that 🔥

  3. Would appear now that posts from Mr Wibberley stating he was employed by HTC and earned his £500 for building the bonfire with his very expensive pallets so let’s hope the full council knew about his employment for the day or was it just a handful or 4 that knew.FOIs to the Town Clerk will tell us.

  4. I believe the mess cannot be saved. If the cabal do lose their seats in May, and I say if, I believe that will be too late. I actually already believe it is too late now but the most sickening thing about this is that the good councillors seem to be doing nothing! A lot of actionable stuff could have come out in a forensic audit but the councillors settled for a simple audit which JK was actually able to use to try to exonerate himself!!! Sadly I believe the cabal have been allowed to carry on their corrupt ways for too long.

  5. Agree with previous post, the so called good councillors have just sat and let it happen, if they had shown leadership and demanded a forensic audit as we wanted, the parishioners , then maybes this would’ve started to change things, but we are where we are , get ready for more spending!!
