The Town Council Meeting held on the 18th August 2022, is one that will remain in people’s minds for a long, long time.
Ferret, like most people, tries to see the good in even the worst of society and at times we see a glimmer of redemption come through.
Unfortunately this is not the case with the cabal led Independents on Hemsworth Town Council.
They seem to have the inability to decide on the right action to correct the issues that Hemsworth, Kinsley and Fitzwilliam are facing.
Ferret believes, the truth is that they have created those issues and they are not dealing with them because their own interests seem to come first and foremost.
We have seen this repeated time and time again.
This council is being run into the ground and yet we still see even worse conduct, from these few of our supposedly elected representatives.
We now have a Town Council Leader, Jean Eccles, who has lost the confidence and respect of her own Councillors after only 3 months in office and yet she refuses to resign.
She quickly accepted the position when she was voted into the office of Chair of the Council in May of this year.
She didn’t refuse the position then but accepted their vote and decision and took up office.
Now apparently, the majority vote of these same councillors, that have now clearly said she is not fit for office, does not matter.
She is staying as chair of the council until next May.
If the votes of her fellow councillors do not matter to Jean Eccles, why did she accept the result last May, where she even made use of the second and casting vote of the outgoing chair, Jim Kenyon to ensure election?
This time it was a clear vote of NO to her continuing in office and yet she vows to remain.
Clearly double standards.
Clearly self-serving double standards. Clearly hypocrisy.
The breath of fresh air she pledged to bring to Hemsworth Town Council, when accepting the office of Chair of the Town Council, is now nothing more than the putrid smell of a rotting council, being run by a few people, for the benefit of themselves.
- The people have never wanted her as Chair of the Council
- Her fellow councillors have voted NO to her continuing in office.
Jean Eccles, You are making a mockery of decency and democracy.
Ironically Hemsworth Town Council signed up to the civility and respect pledge that same night, at the same meeting.
Show some civility and respect to this community and your fellow councillors.
