Regular readers of Ferret are already aware of the extortionate amount of YOUR precept money that Mr Jim Kenyon – Chair Independent Hemsworth Town Council purchased WITHOUT prior authorisation from the Council.

Having looked at the recent accounts, Ferret was intrigued to see that Independent Hemsworth Town Council have actually hired some machinery in the last few months:

It then appeared again:

And again:

Ferret has to wonder why Independent Hemsworth Town Council would choose to spend more on hiring a Cement mixer in three months than it would cost to purchase one outright?…

  1. Probably because the Eccles’ company or another mate didn’t have one to sell at the usual rates they pay, not yet anyway. Keep watching one will probably appear sooner or later when they do.

  2. This just confirms Bodger Kenyon and co have a total lack of business sense. Bodger has learnt nothing from any of his “business dealings” except how to look after himself and his mates. He must be in seventh heaven dropping on what he sees as a cash cow for his benefit and to hell with us.

  3. The chairman spouts off regurlarly how this council have found numerous ways of saving money by renegotiating contracts etc. What I find odd then is the fact that the council spends nearly £500 a month on “mower lease”! This includes the winter months when the cutting of grass is not needed as often! Also the lease every month at a cost of £314 of a “John deere gator utility vehicle” otherwise known as an Eccles carpet disposal vehicle. What is also surprising and puzzling is the fact that the council asset register contains a “gator” and a “fisco ride on mower/attachments. To hire or not to hire? Why lease things like this that are in regular use and then actually fork out tens of thousands of pounds on massive plant machinery that are used very little…Just sayin

  4. Sooner or later methinks a certain somebody is going to hear “that knock” at his door?

  5. Why have they purchased big machinery and hardly used it then hire small and use a lot? What is the cement for? Is there not a cement factory round the corner? Would it not be cheaper to buy ready mixed? Has it been all worked out?
