Both Mr Jim Kenyon – Chair (Independent Hemsworth Town Council) and Mr Ian Womersley (Independent District and Hemsworth Town Council) weren’t very keen on welcoming Costa Coffee onto the derelict old Market Place in Hemsworth.
Policy and Planning Committee Council Meeting 4 July 2019
c) KFC/Costa application on former market site, Hemsworth
Resolved that the council formally objects to the application primarily because of the traffic congestion and air pollution the development would create.
Subsequently, Hemsworth Town Council lodged an objection to the planning application.
When Ferret was looking through planning applications the other day, another application stood out.
20/02135/FUL | To convert the existing tyre repair centre site office into a coffee bar and the workshop to continue as a car repair garage. Kirkbygate MOT Centre Kirkby Road Hemsworth Pontefract WF9 4DE. 5 October 2020
Another Coffee Bar in Hemsworth, surely Hemsworth Town Council would be objecting to this?
Ferret can confirm no objections were made to this development.
The planning application shows the name and address of the owner of land on the last page. For some strange reason the owners name is missing, but the address of the owner is filled in.
