“We will conduct a Scientific Audit of this LABOUR Council and former Town Clerk to see where your money has GONE over the last 15 years.”

The Independent Hemsworth Town Council instructed John Frenkel to conduct an audit into the previous Labour Town Councils’ finances. Why has this report not been published for the parishioners to see? How much did this cost?

“Allotments all available plots will be made safe clear and workable.”

Could the Independent Hemsworth Town Council explain why they are in the process of disposing of a large number of Allotments at one of the sites they own?

“Bring back the good old days by supporting more local schools, groups.”

Could the Independent Hemsworth Town Council detail how they have achieved this?

“Better support for Fitzwilliam/Kinsley Centres, children & residents”

Is this the same Fitzwilliam Centre which the Independent Hemsworth Town Council stated that the previous Labour Hemsworth Town Council shouldn’t have taken over to secure it’s future?

“Fight to stop the sale and planning on Your Hemsworth Market Place which will cause further Traffic, rat runs, pollution, noise and anti social behavior to local residents.”

…That went well 😂

Did the Independent Town Council ask the parishioners what they wanted?

Markets have been in decline for years. They people of the parish certainly didn’t want a market or they would have used it prior to it’s decline.

Ferret seems to recall a poll of the local residents on Facebook had a strong indication that the parishioners actually DID want that sale to take place and were looking forward to PROGRESS being made in the Town and the prosperity the new business would bring…

The Independent Hemsworth Town Council and Independent District Councillor Ian Womersley both submitted objections to Wakefield Planning to try and stop the development.

“Cemetery..ensure Wakefield Council maintain our cemetery equal to those in Wakefield, unlike this LABOUR council who do what LABOUR controlled Wakefield council say”

Ferret has seen photographs of Hemsworth Town Council employees and members of the public working in the Cemetery to clean it up – We are all for the Cemetery being kept clean, tidy and maintained but, as precept payers, Why are we paying twice for the same thing?

We already pay Wakefield Council to maintain this, Why are they not doing so? Maybe Independent District Councillor Womersley could help us out here?

“Provide a youth club to get the kids off the streets. Reintroduce the subsidised Community Dinner-Incorporate a Licensed Bar to the main room available for all your functions to turn around another white Elephant £100,000 a year loss.”

Did anyone ask the kids if they wanted a youth club and what they wanted at it?

Has anyone enjoyed a subsidised dinner?

A licensed bar – another one in Hemsworth?

The Community Centre already had a license, so members of the public could consume their own alcohol or even bring in a bar for their own events.

Let’s see some real profit and loss figures from the Independent Town Council…

“Valehead PARK – Make Wakefield accountable as they have a legal duty to provide and maintain this park facility for all our community”

Has anyone noticed any massive changes since 2019?… neither has Ferret.

With Councillor Ian Womersley, who is an Independent Councillor on both Hemsworth Town Council and Wakefield Council, surely this would have been easy for them to achieve?

Councillor Womersley is paid a wage by Wakefield Council for his commitments as District Councillor (as are every other elected memeber).

Just how much is He really fighting for you with Wakefield? Have a look at the number of meetings he has actually attended since being elected, all of this information is on the Wakefield Council website. Maybe his other paid work commitments get in the way…

“Rejuvenate YOUR Kinsley Water Park, run down for years, up date install a Licensed Bar available for all to celebrate-food vouchers for parking Summer pop Concerts Longer better opening hours to turn around £120,000 a year deficit to a profit. Restock the fishing ponds.”

The Independent Councillors instructed the Town Clerk (Mr Alan Draper) to ensure the licensed bar was opened at “whatever the cost”.

How much did this cost you, the precept payer?

Food vouchers? – Has anyone received any?

Free Parking – Parking was already free for all residents of the Parish. Members of the public who attended the Water Park from outside our area had to pay under the Labour Council. This brought in tens of thousands of pounds in income. They now park for free, to use the facilities that YOU pay for. Oh, and some of them also park on the land which belongs to Independent Councillor Gordon Eccles, The former site of The Farmers pub, which incidentally YOU the parishioners paid to have cleared out of your precept.

Summer Pop Concerts – The Venga Boys are apparently on their way, Mr Kenyon (Chair of Independent Hemsworth Town Council) has stated on a number of occasions that he believes they will sell around 7000 tickets…at the last count they have only sold around 500, with a number of these being given away for free. Who will ultimately pay for this when it flops? That’s right YOU.

Fishing Lakes – Has there been any money spent on restocking? Anglers are regularly reporting fish are being stolen due to a lack of security. This seems strange as the Independent Council created a new position as Head Of Security – Where is she when this is happening?

“Regenerate YOUR Kirby Road Complex back to it’s former glory Club-House-football-rigby-pitches-basket-ball-Cycle-&-walking tracks- Restore protect the Woodland Deliberately ruined by Labour”.

Perhaps the Independent Council would like to comment on the progress they have made on this?

Mr Kenyon (Chair of Independent Hemsworth Town Council) spent YOUR precept money on plans for the site. How much did these cost?

How much in legal fees have been spent so far?

What is the legal advice Independent Hemsworth Town Council have received regarding the current legal case against them by Saul Construction? Where is all the “open and transparent” we were promised?

Would you want your children or grandchildren playing on a site which is a former “tip” and deemed contaminated land?

So lets have a look in detail at what we were promised by the Independent Candidates in their manifestos back in 2019:

“Wakefield Council continues to laugh as this Labour Council continues to take on more and more Wakefield councils facilities…”

The previous Labour Council took over a number of facilities which were formally operated by Wakefield Council, this included The Fitzwilliam Centre and the Cemetery Road playing fields.

All of this was at no extra cost to the precept payers. However, this increased not only the Town Councils’ (your) assets, but also secured these facilities for future generations.

What has the Independent Council done since 2019?

They have spent a large amount of your precept purchasing machinery to complete the jobs which you already pay Wakefield Council for!

Ferret wonders how much the staffing and ongoing costs for these are?

“But provide more services for our local Children/Residents”

What additional services have been provided? More importantly, What services have been taken away or cut back?

So lets have a look in detail at what we were promised by the Independent Candidates in their manifestos back in 2019:

“When elected we will reduce your precept by over £200,000”

Has this happened?

No
