Whilst perusing over the latest accounts once again, Ferret noticed the following entry:
24/02/2023 BACS East Yorkshire fire services £552.00 Fire service equipment – Water Park.
Now although the amount is substantial it is not large by Hemsworth Town Council’s standards these days, there was something making the whiskers on Ferret’s face tingle, so it called for just a little further investigation.
Utilising the Governments companies house search the firm was quickly found:
EAST YORKSHIRE FIRE SERVICES LIMITED
Company number 11783792
Just a couple of clicks later revealed the following disturbing information:
Registered office address
Westway, Bondgate, Selby, United Kingdom, YO8 3LS
Company status Active — Active proposal to strike off
Company type Private limited Company. Incorporated on 23 January 2019
As you can see the company is active but there is an active proposal to strike it off!
Just a couple of more clicks of the mouse revealed the reason:
Accounts overdue
First accounts made up to 31 January 2020
due by 23 January 2021
Confirmation statement overdue
Next statement date 1 February 2021
due by 15 March 2021
Last statement dated 1 February 2020
No accounts have been filed since January 2020!
No statements submitted since February 2020!
Something else also caught Ferret’s eye:
Nature of business (SIC)
- 82990 – Other business support service activities not elsewhere classified
Very strange thinks Ferret, we have Hemsworth Town Council, a local authority dealing with a firm for fire service equipment that is in the process of being stuck off and also may not be an appropriate firm to use for such an essential item as fire service equipment for our Waterpark
Speaking of “Due Diligence” if a Ferret was able to use a mouse to check out this company it would be reasonable to expect a Town Clerk such as Mr Draper on circa £50,000 per year to do the same?
Then again, given two of our leading councillors, Jean and Gordon Eccles are no strangers to fires at the own premises then perhaps we should start to worry…
Once again no surprises with Draper it seemingly never ends, and we even have had some councillors who should know better, supporting him instead of sacking him.
