With the ever increasing costs of Petrol and Diesel, Ferret has taken a look at the amount of money Independent Hemsworth Town Council has spent on fuel in the last financial year.
Ferret feels these to be rather excessive for such a small geographical area covering Hemsworth, Kinsley and Fitzwilliam.
The distance between the Kirkby Road roundabout in Hemsworth to Lane Ends in Fitzwilliam is only around 3 miles in total.
Please bare this in mind when reviewing the fuel expenditure below, which covers 11 months of the 21-22 year.
So that’s a total of almost £3,000.
This equates to over 13,000 miles.
How can this be possible for such a small area?
This leads Ferret to asking the following questions of Independent led Hemsworth Town Council:
- Who has access to the payment card used at the garages?
- How do we know council owned (and used) vehicle tanks are being filled up?
- What vehicles do the Town Council currently use?
- Where do they go in these vehicles?
Maybe the new “open and transparent” Chair – Mrs Jean Eccles could answer these questions for us…
