Hemsworth Water Park was created after the Miners’ strike “to give children and families who couldn’t afford a holiday, the next best thing, by creating a seaside at home”

Ferret has been contacted by a number of parishioners with regards to the Waterpark, following the post last week which highlighted that the Waterpark lost an astonishing £221,494 in the year from April 2019 to March 2020.

Some questions which have been asked of Ferret:

• Is the Waterpark (and Hemsworth Town Council) being deliberately run into debt so as to facilitate the sale of the Waterpark?

• Is Ferret aware that one of the Councillors has expressed the desire to purchase the Waterpark on a number of occasions in the past?

• Would placing the Waterpark in a trust, taking the decision away from the voters in the process, make it easier to dispose of the Waterpark?

Ferret will be looking into these and other questions over the next few weeks…
