Ferret can now share with readers, the candidates who have so far declared they are standing in the local election.

There are three wards, each with five vacant seats.

Hemsworth East Ward:

Carol Whitehead (Labour)

Hemsworth South and West Ward:

Kevin Conway (Labour)

Adè Ogunade (Labour)

Ian McGinnies (Independent of any Political Party)

Lyn Morton (Green)

Ferret understand there are further candidates who have submitted their paperwork and will add them to the post once this information is realeased.

Any ward with five or less candidates will be elected unopposed.
